A Sweet Discovery

So today while doing my daily browse thru on LookBook, I came across a look that I had to hype. It was called Sharp Edges. The entire look was really all about these amazing shoes. There were 125 comments on this look and every single one was about the shoes! My comment was, ” Love the look, obsessing over the shoes, finding and buying, I’m on a mission!”.. and so I was for the rest of the afternoon. The look posted that the shoes were Kandee, which was a brand I had never heard of before… but  I was able to find their site, Kandeeshoes.com. Here is where not only can you purchase the shoes I’m obsessing over, but also find several other TO DIE FOR styles! You must check it out! They don’t have a huge selection right now, but you can tell from the site it is a new, up and coming brand. I’m super excited to see what else they come out with, I will be a frequent browser for sure!

Here are the pumps I was on a mission to find…

Don’t you love the names and candy colored bottoms?!

PS- Mission Accomplished. I found and bought the shoes, afternoon well spent!

They call me Hot Leatha Heatha….

guess leather jacket, bebe leather leggings

full leather look with leather jacket and leggings

You’re probably reading the title of my post and saying to yourself…WTF? But in all seriousness, a couple of close friends (for NO known or good reason) call me Hot Leatha Heatha (lol). Maybe it’s because Leather and Heather rhyme? I don’t know, but whatever the reason, I certainly laugh out loud every time I hear them say it and for this post I thought it was perfectly fitting since I am talking about leather! I absolutely LOVE leather jackets and wanted to do a post just for them!

With leather jackets increasingly gaining popularity over the past couple years, they have now become an essential item to have in your wardrobe. What I love now, is that you can find a leather jacket in just about any color. A black leather jacket is a good color to start with as it’s the perfect addition to ANY outfit and will go with just about any color. I am a huge fan of pairing a leather jacket with leggings or a dress. I like mixing a feminine style dress with a more masculine black leather jacket, it adds that perfect amount of edge to the look. One of my favorite black leather jackets that I own, I bought 4 years ago from Guess and I still wear it often to this day. Below are some close up shots of it so you can see the mean detailing on it. You’ll see that it fits me like a glove which I think is key to sporting a leather jacket. It should fit like it looks tailored to your body. You’ll also notice I paired the black leather jacket with a cognac brownish scarf, mustard yellow tank top, and some also leather leggings. I love pairing rich tan browns with black and who ever says you can’t wear black  and brown, I’m proving you wrong.

A Fashion Lovers MUST READ

ELLEments of Personal Style

Last week while traveling to Palm Beach, I picked up a copy of The ELLEments of Personal Style Book  by ELLE Magazine editors Joe Zee and Maggie Bullock and let me just say, it’s ELLE-mazing! It’s 255 pages of full style inspiration that covers 25 Modern Icons on how they dress, shop, and live. I’m a huge fan of when you can get a glimpse into someone’s  closet and wardrobe, I think you get a better idea of a person  and what they may be like, just by seeing what makes up their style. In the book they profile actors, singers, musicians, designers, choreographers, and all types of stylish industry types. I was surprised to learn of the style that some of the well known celebs had. For some of them, I had a particular image or idea in my mind of them, but after seeing their personal style in the book, I now see them differently and more stylish then how I thought of them before. The people whose style I particularly loved in the book were actress Becki Netwon, model Erin Masson, actress Olivia Wilde,  costume designer Janie Bryant, and Missoni Brand Ambassador/Accessories Designer Margherita Missoni.

You should definitely grab a copy of the book, if you’re like me and enjoy learning of  all types of people and styles. You can buy it on Amazon for only $19.80.

Halloween 2010

So normally I don’t get all dressed up for Halloween, it’s just not a holiday I usually go all out for. BUT … this year our office decided to have a costume party and contest, so I decided to go ahead and participate. To have fun with it, I figured that if I was going to dress up, I might as well dress up as someone totally unexpected. Someone completely opposite of me…

Can you guess who I was?

Can you wear a maxi dress in fall?

If you’re like me I try to utilize as many pieces in my wardrobe as I can throughout the entire year, verses just season to season. I think the trick is to take each piece an adapt it to the season through the accessories and other items you can add to it. I bring this up because just the other day I was talking to a friend about this same topic when she asked, “Do you think I can still wear a maxi dress in the fall?” and I believe you can. It’s the perfect example for my point on how to make all the items in your wardrobe versatile. As a maxi dress is best and most comfortably worn in spring/summer, when it comes time for fall,  I think by adding a leather jacket or knit sweater and some boots, you’ve warmed up the look and its ready to wear for fall! I pulled from my own wardobe for an example on how to fall-erize (accessorize for fall) a maxi dress.

But what do you think? Can you wear a Maxi dress in the fall?

The look below is a Bill Hallman maxi dress with a vintage Guess leather jacket and frye engineer boots.

My Work/Play Outfit

A Great Work/Play outfit is a jumpsuit. It’s so easy to dress up and down, all you need are a couple items to make it all work.

The work outfit with a jumpsuit by Zara below is paired with an army green boyfriend blazer from AQUA , army green booties from Steve Madden. Accessories are layered with a watch from Michael Kors and a snake bracelet.

For the Play look below, I just removed the blazer, added a gold belt from Zara, changed the booties to BCBG pumps, and added an oversized clutch by Tory Burch.

1 Fur Vest- 3 Looks

Fur is everywhere this fall and I’m a huge fan! Particularly, I am fan of fur vests! You can pair a fur vest with just about any fall/winter look and it will give you that trendy, glamour edge that will dress up any outfit.

To demonstrate what I am talking about, I put together 3 different looks, using  one fur vest.

fur vest w/ blouse, black leggings, and suede boots

In this look I;m wearing: MetroPark fur vest, Zara blouse, Madewell leggings, Sam Edelman boots
